Holiday Safety tips

The Holiday Season is officially upon us and with it comes the time to spend with loved ones and friends. With the season also comes a time when others would like to take advantage of what we have and own. We thought we would provide you with a list of safety precautions you and your loved ones can follow this Holiday Season.

· Always be aware of your surroundings.

· If shopping, never walk to your vehicle while texting, talking on the phone or not paying attention to your surroundings.

· Never leave valuables inside your vehicle. Either bring them into your house or lock them in the trunk.

· Always walk to your vehicle with your keys in your hand, ready to unlock your vehicle when you arrive (never unlock your vehicle from a distance).

· Never leave your garage door open and unattended.

· When pulling up to your home at night, always observe your surroundings.

· When shopping, never leave your bags unattended.

· If you are going to be away from home this Holiday Season, be sure that you have neighbors or friends watching your home, picking up your mail and/or newspaper.

Summer Safety Tips

As summer approaches, please remember these safety tips:

a. Never leave valuables in your vehicles in full view and always lock your vehicle doors when not in use.

b. Always call 242-COPS (2677) if you suspect any suspicious activity in the neighborhood. Your call can

prevent burglaries, theft, and other crime-related activities.

c. When walking or jogging in the neighborhood, always carry your cell phone for safety or to call the police

to report immediately any crime taking place or suspicious activity.

d. Never leave your garage door unattended.

e. If gone from your home for periods of time, always stop your paper and have someone pick up your mail.

Have neighbors watch your home.
